  Despite an obvious (and failed) attempt by Netflix’  announcers to make viewers think they shouldn’t believe  their lying eyes,  JAKE PAUL  embarrassed himself  Saturday night in what was no-contest against two-time  and former heavyweight boxing champion  ANTHONY  JOSHUA . Paul, the so-called YouTube  sensation  and a first-class  hustler who had beaten up has-beens like  MIKE TYSON  as well as a bunch of never-was fringe pro boxers who  excelled in other contact sports, was reduced to throwing  wild punches (when he even bothered) then grabbing the  much-taller Joshua and sliding down his legs to the  canvas. Honest! He did it so often that the referee stopped the  bout (briefly) in the fourth of eight scheduled rounds to  tell them to “cut out this crap. The fans didn’t pay to see  this.” Fortunately, Netflix, which charges as much as $22 a  month to watch its entertainment...

Before we get to the big leagues, let’s take a moment or two  on the league that refers to itself as “Single A Minor  Professional Hockey.” On December 13, in Monroe, Louisiana , the hometown  Moccasins beat the Biloxi, Mississippi, Breakers 12-1 in a  Federal  Prospects Hockey League affair that lasted more  than three  hours … before a crowd of 3,589 that saw 39  penalties  called for 185 minutes – which is extreme by any  measure. There were five fights, 10 misconduct penalties and most of  the 21 minors were of the more aggressive kind, like  slashing, high sticking and roughing. The Moccasins  finished with 26 infractions for 106 yards. They scored five  power play goals and one short-handed.
