  Oh, no … say it isn’t so … Playing partners  JORDAN  SPEITH  and  VIKTOR HOVLAND  questioned  RORY  MCELROY’S  choice of drops after twice putting t-shots into  water at The Players opening round Thursday (March 14).  They accented their concern by not appearing at the daily  press conference … although being way, way down the  leaderboard might have had something to do with it, too.  McElroy responded by tying the tournament record for birdies  in a round and finished with a 65 … for a three-way tie for  first. Now it develops NHL New Jersey’s  JONAS  SIEGENTHALER  will be sidelined indefinitely with a  concussion … courtesy of an elbow to the head by Rangers’   MATT REMPE . If you think local talk shows have become overly harsh about your Washington football team, going from hot to cold and back again on a whim week after week after … check the NY tabloids some time. They take it personally when their New York Football Giants fail to measure up to preseason calls for greatness … as misguided as it seemed at the time. The difference is here … most, if not all, of the (middle) finger-pointing is directed at the guiding geniuses starting with Ron Rivera, who is co-blamed along with defensive coordinator Jack del Rio.
