BEARS' COACH HAS VIGOROUS DEFENDER IN FORMER SOAP STAR NOW NFL NETWORK YAPPER
“Don’t you just like a little hate in football? I’m
the Bears’ coach, and I hate the Packers … I hate
their coach. It’s great.”
Boy, was the NFL Network’s KYLE BRANDT
fired up or what, defending Chicago coach BEN
JOHNSON,who took considerable heat for
letting his emotions get in the way of common
sense.
Johnson went off on NFL Green Bay during a
locker room rant loaded with f-bombs after da
Bears scored 25 points in the final quarter to
win 31-27 and give Johnson, in his second
season, his first playoff victory.
And, when the game was over, the former Lions’
OC who opted for Chicago over your Washington
Commanders, brushed off Packers’ counterpart
MATT LeFLEUR, barely making contact in the
traditional post-game handshake before turning
away.
Who did Johnson think he was ...disrespecting
anyone or anything much less VINCE
LOMBARDI U.?
So what? said Brandt, who was a running back
at Princeton (1997-2000) and served sports
talk-show host JIM ROME in various capacities
including writer, producer and on-air substitute,
before joining the NFL Network’s Good Morning
Football as one of several co-hosts in 2016. To
paraphrase:
He loved the transparency. All coaches say
things like that … all the time … why pretend
otherwise?
Brandt, probably better known as an actor on
The Days of Our Lives afternoon soap (2003-06)
thinks hatred is good. He’s also tired of
watching the friendly exchange of jerseys ad
infinitum.
Wonder what he thought about critics calling
Bills’ coach (and William & Mary alumnus)
SEAN McDERMOTT “a hypocrit” for punishing
favored Jacksonville with the “tush push” after
calling it dangerous and voting to eliminate it?
The Bills won 27-24, setting up the winning TD
in the final minute with a 10-yard TP on fourth-
and-one from the Jaguars’ 11.
By the way … in case anyone cares … Brandt is
NOT related TO the late GIL BRANDT of NFL,
specifically Cowboys, fame.
Until next time ...
