BUNCH OF STUFF ... LIKE: DID DOBSON HIT McAVOY WITH SHOT DELIBERATELY?

Headline seen on-line:

Will Penn State live to regret

firing James Franklin?

Better to ask:

How Long Before Franklin Wears Out His

Welcome at Virginia Tech?

***** YOU COULD almost feel sorry for BILL

BELICHICK… except it is Belichick after all … so

what doesn’t seem fair gets a pass, nevertheless, when the

media goes out of their way to trash the six-time Super

Bowl winner for attending his 24 year old girl friend’s

cheerleading contest after his North Carolina football

team loses another game.

Given a choice, it says here, every one of his critics

would do the same thing. Besides, his assistant coaches

had to be pleased, too, that is if rumors of Belichick’s

reaction to losses while coaching in the NFL are only half

true.

We know one former aide who told horror stories of

Belichick unable to sleep which meant his staff had to

stay up all kinds of crazy hours and work, too.

***** WAS IT only me, or did the slap shot by the New

York Islanders’ NOAH DOBSON that hit the face of

Boston’s CHARLIE McAVOY look deliberate to you?

Either that or Dobson needs to see a good eye doctor

pronto.

McAvoy was standing well wide left of the Bruins’ goal

when Dobson wound up and drilled him high, straight on,

no deflection. The all-star defenseman did not return to

the game. McEvoy underwent surgery Tuesday, and no

timetable was set for his return.

***** IF YOU ARE going to showcase an American

Hockey League game on the NHL Network, why not

instruct the home-team announcers to be a bit more

balanced than usual? Wednesday night, during a low-

information pregame show, the entire focus was on the

hometown Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Only Rochester

player mentioned until the opening faceoff was the

starting goaltender, DAVON LEVI. No starting lineups,

know nothing about the visiting Americans who currently

employ Richmond’s ZAC JONES on defense.

Watch out for Jones on this unit,” said TV analyst

 STEVEN SWAVELY during Rochester’s first

opportunity with the man advantage. “[He has] 11 assists

on the power play this year [12 games].”

It’s doubtful he knew Jones had 13 in all, by far the best

among AHL defensemen.

Jones added No. 14 early in the third period on the power

play, the team’s 20th of the season.

The Amerks cut the deficit to 3-2 with 6 minutes to go on

another PP. Guess who got his 15th assist? … but Lehigh

Valley won 4-2.

Until next time …
